Believe it or not, several scriptures in the Bible show that God initiated temptation ~~ in the sense of testing purposes.
For example, Genesis clearly states:
“Some time later God tested Abraham…” (Genesis 22:1 NIV)
Likewise, in Deuteronomy we read:
“Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.” (Deuteronomy 8:2 NIV)
From experience, when God tempts us as humans, it’s always for the purpose of promotion and to prove us.
The Apostle James explains clearly the purpose of such tests:
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” (James 1:12 NIV)
God’s intent in testing ~~ unlike Satan’s temptation ~~ is like a parent testing a child.
It’s never meant to fail the child, but to prepare the child for what lies ahead.
The Apostle Paul also confirms this comforting truth:
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV)
Now I have a question for you today:
Observe carefully ~~ what test have you been failing that may have been orchestrated by God in this life?
Let that sink in.
There is always victory when you overcome temptation.
Be blessed.
